Panasonic asked us to discover new niche opportunities for their TV business. Up to this point, the industry had become an arms race of who can create the thinnest, biggest TV with the most brilliant picture, with the obvious deficit of physical volume, and thus, good sound quality. TV design had gotten to a point where sound was being outsourced to external speakers and surround sound systems.
After conducting ethnographic research and building an understanding around how people actually use their TVs throughout the day, we recognized an opportunity for a TV Architecture where razor thin screen technology, great (invisible) sound delivery and flexibility in setup intersect.
Our final concept is a TV that not only appears to be very thin, but also delivers on a substantial sound quality promise. The speakers and resonating chambers are tucked in on the sides and bottom, hiding them from the front view and making the TV appear sleek and minimal.
This is ideal for many people we witnessed who use their TVs also as a music source, and don’t want to deal with a surround sound system.
Hello, surround sound.

Projecting the L/R channels to the side and allowing sound waves to bounce of the peripheral walls, we can create a surround sound-like delivery, elevating viewing from a flat booming one to an immersive movie experience.
Maintaining a thin, crisp bezel all around elevates the overall aesthetic and aligns it visually with more top end models
By providing a wall bracket, low stand and a unique trestle, the TV can be set up easily in various configurations - from wall-mounted, cabinet-top to freestanding.
directional sound projection
Beefing up the volume in the lower third allows us to stack a significant speaker array for directional L/R channels as well as a subwoofer into the housing.
